Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made contact with Marseille over the availability of Andre-Pierre Gignac.

Gunners boss Wenger has long admired the ability of Gignac, having sent scouts to watch a number of his performances this season and it is now understood that initial contact has been made.

Gignac is out of contract at the end of the season and looks increasingly likely to make a move away from the club after falling out with boss Marcelo Bielsa.

The 29-year-old has scored 15 league goals this season and has attracted interest from a number of clubs, not just Arsenal.

Marseille face losing the French striker and Ghana winger Andre Ayew, who is also out of contract.
