Midfielder Ander Herrera has admitted Manchester United need to be more ruthless to stop their fans from suffering during games.

A host of travelling United fans were once again vocal in their discontent during the Wednesday evening Premier League clash with Newcastle United, with familiar chants of ‘attack, attack, attack,’ ringing round St James Park.

Home keeper Tim Krul gifted Louis van Gaal’s side a late winner after he failed to clear the ball, allowing Ashley Young to score late.

But, Herrera has discussed how he and his team-mates are aiming to be more clinical in front of goal to appease the club’s fans.

He told MUTV: “I think we deserved to win. We deserved to score before and we were a little bit disappointed at half-time because we should have been winning.

“We created chances, we kept the ball and we didn’t give a lot of chances away – I think only one in the first half, in the last minute. But now we are very happy.

“When you win in the last minute, you are very happy. But I think we have to improve, we have to score earlier because our fans are suffering too much.”
