Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has joked on Twitter that he cannot wait for Real Madrid to sign Manchester United keeper David de Gea.

The Spanish international has arguably been United’s best player this season and continued his fine run of form with an outstanding performance against Newcastle United on Wednesday evening, helping his side win 1-0.

Linked with a move to Spanish side Real Madrid, contract negotiations at Old Trafford continue to roll on with bosses at the English club now getting concerned that the Spaniard may make the move back to to the Spanish capital.

Whilst talk continues, Carragher has joked on Twitter that he should join Real Madrid soon, saying: “Quicker De Gea goes to Real Madrid the better.”

De Gea joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and has featured 158 times for the club.
