Diego Simeone is reportedly keen on replacing Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City and is holding off on a new contract with Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

The Argentine coach has been hugely successful in La Liga, having broken up the so called ‘big-two’ and winning the Spanish title with his side last season.

Simeone also guided Atletico to a runners-up Champions League finish last season, losing to Real Madrid in the final and his ability has been noted by a number of other European clubs, like Paris Saint Germain and Man City.

And, it is understood that the former midfielder is now holding off on contract talks with the Spanish capital side to wait and see what happens with Pellegrini’s situation at the Etihad stadium.

Atletico bosses want Simeone to sign a new contract, which would extend his deal to 2022, but the Argentine is reluctant to do so at the moment.
