Borussia Dortmund’s hopes of keeping Ilkay Gundogan have stalled after Manchester United re-ignited their interest in the midfielder.

The midfielder has been a distant figure in European football in recent seasons after struggling for fitness following a back problem which ruled him out for 14 months.

However, his return to action has further prompted a number of European clubs to show interest and despite reports claiming he was close to a new and improved deal with the German club; it is now unsure if he will remain at Signal Iduna Park.

Man United have long been interested in the German international and are keen to pursue a cut-price move this summer, moving on the fact that he contract is due to expire in 2016.

Sport Bild report that the midfielder will now wait until the end of the season before making a decision regarding his future.
