Manchester United are closing in on a summer move for Porto defender Danilo, according to reports.

The 23-year-old, has a £37m release clause in his current deal at the Estadio de Dragao but La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid are willing to pay that price after watching his fleeting performances this season for the Portuguese side.

United boss Louis van Gaal has been desperate to sign a right-back during his first season in charge at Old Trafford, but has failed to tempt the likes of Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton, although talks are continuing.

Danilo, who joined Porto from Santos in 2011, has represented Brazil on 11 occasions and is said to be keen on a summer move to either Spain or England.

Some reports have claimed that his agent flew into Manchester last weekend to put out feelers to both Man United and Chelsea.
