Liverpool are keen to pursue a summer move for Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto, but face competition from Real Madrid.

Argentine Vietto has somewhat of a breakthrough season in La Liga, having joined Villarreal last summer from Argentine side Racing Club.

He has since scored 16 goals in all competitions and has helped the Spanish side to a Europa League last-16 place and a Copa del Rey semi-final, where they will face Barcelona this Wednesday in the second leg.

His form has caught the attention of potential suitors Real Madrid and Liverpool this season and it is the latter who are considering a summer move.

Vietto is valued at £12million and is being seen as a cheap replacement for Mario Balotelli, who is expected to depart in the summer.

The former AC Milan striker has recently been linked with a move to the MLS with Orlando City interested.
