Man City approach Pep Guardiola

Manchester City will make an approach for Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola if they fail to win a trophy this season.

Reigning Premier League champions City sit five points behind Chelsea in the title race, whilst they are looking likely to be eliminated from the Champions League, after losing the first leg to Barcelona last week.

Boss Manuel Pellegrini has come under heavy criticism since that defeat to Luis Enrique’s side and more so, after the weekend defeat to Liverpool.

City’s Abu Dhabi owners are keen to emulate the success of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in recent seasons, but have questioned Pellegrini’s chances of making that happen at Etihad Stadium.

Former Barcelona boss Guardiola took charge of Bayern in the summer of 2013 and has continued similar success he had at Camp Nou, winning Bundesliga titles, the FIFA World Club Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

The Spaniard will see his contract expire next season, although talk has already begun that he could call time on his spell with the German club in June.
