Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has set his sights on signing for Manchester United this summer, according to various reports.

The French international is rated highly by Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid, but has failed to push past the likes of Pepe and Sergio Ramos for a starting place at the Spanish club.

Interest in the young central defender has been rife with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United keen, and it is being reported that he has ambitions to link up with Louis van Gaal’s side.

United boss Van Gaal is keen to make a summer move for the Frenchman and link him up with Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, who is reported to have agreed a deal in principle with the English club.

Chelsea are also extremely keen on bringing the youngster to the Premier League, with Jose Mourinho a keen admirer of Varane having spent time with him at Madrid.
