Manchester United’s record signing, Angel Di Maria, has discussed his struggle to adapt to life in the Premier League.

The Argentina international had a superb season with European champions Real Madrid last season and instantly made an impact at Old Trafford in September, having scored three goals in his first five games.

However, a goal drought and poor performances have seen his place in the starting eleven questioned by fans and pundits close to the club, and he has discussed his first season struggles.

“I’ve had a couple of games where things haven’t gone as well as they could have. I think it is part of that settling-in process to the English game,” he told MUTV.

“I started off quite well but I think that made expectations rise and everyone thought that I would just carry on the same way but football is like that; sometimes you have ups and downs.

“It took me a while to settle in fully in each of the countries where I have played before but I just have to keep working hard and focusing on what I want, which is to do as well as I possibly can.”
