Arsenal’s board should not just sack Arsene Wenger, they should start a fresh with the whole club, claims Rodney Marsh, who was speaking to TalkSport’s Sports Bar.
Goals from Geoffrey Kondogbia, Dimitar Berbatov and Ferreira Carrasco gave Monaco a 3-1 win over Arsenal at Emirates stadium on Wednesday evening and Arsenal boss Wenger has been hit with fierce criticism since.
Many are blaming the Frenchman for being too naive in his respect towards the Ligue 1 side, and are now growing impatient with his lack of success, winning just one trophy in the last nine seasons.
Marsh, insists that Arsenal’s problems are not just about Wenger and he believes the club needs a complete overhaul, if they are to repeat the success that the likes of Thierry Henry and Robert Pires brought the club in Wenger’s early years.
Speaking on the Sports Bar, the expert pundit said: “Arsenal football club, ten years ago they were sensational. They had brilliant players and a brilliant, brilliant team.
“They want to go back there and to do that you don’t just sack Arsene Wenger, you sack the lot. You go and dismantle the whole football club.
“There are players playing that are not Arsenal players. There are players playing that don’t seem to care about the club. [Mesut] Ozil, they paid £42milion for him, he is not interested.
“It’s bitch and bitch and bitch and moan. If you are going to change that, you can’t just sack Arsene Wenger at the end of the season, because the next guy that comes in, what is he going to do?”
