Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has asked form team-mates Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres to play in a charity match at Anfield to mark his 25-year career.

The 34-year-old, who will call time on his Liverpool career to join MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of the season, is already planning a charity match to mark his 25 years at the club.

Gerrard is said to have asked Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano and Luis Suarez to feature, whilst Bayern Munich duo Pepe Reina and Xabi Alonso are expected to play.

John Arne Riise, who spent seven years at the club, confirmed via Instagram that he would feature in the match, whilst former winger Luis Garcia and Fernando Torres are set to appear.

Torres famously left Anfield to join Chelsea in a £50m deal, but now plays for Atletico Madrid.
