Barcelona proved too tough for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night as Luis Suarez’s double gave them a 2-1 win.

The former Liverpool striker netted a first-half brace on his return to English soil, whilst Sergio Aguero’s goal means Manuel Pellegrini’s side are still in the tie.

Suarez looked in the mood in the first half as he tested Joe Hart from the off, before opening the scoring following a mistake by Martin Demichelis.

The Uruguayan volleyed past Hart from close range to give the Catalans the lead.

And, he would make it 2-0 after a move that involved Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba, with the latter crossing for Suarez to finish.

City started the second half better and Aguero would get them back in the tie after he drive past two defenders, before beating Marc-Andre ter-Stegen.

Moments later and their chances of getting on level terms were dealt a blow when Gael Clichy was sent off.

Messi had a glorious chance to grab a late third in stoppage time from the penalty spot but Hart saved his spot kick, before the Argentine headed wide.

Meanwhile, Juventus continued their fine form to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at home with goals coming from Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata, whilst Marco Reus bagged for the visitors.
