Borussia Monchengladbach have completed the signing of Thorgan Hazard from Chelsea on a permanent deal.

The Belgian attacker, brother of established Blues star Eden, has agreed a five-year deal with the Bundesliga side, where he is currently on loan.

“Thorgan has indicated in the past few months what a great talent he is. We are delighted that we have managed to sign him, and that he has decided to play in the next few years for Borussia,” said sporting director Max Eberl.

Hazard struggled to force his way into plans at Stamford Bridge but has emerged as a first-teamer with Lucien Favre’s side, scoring four goals and gaining eight assists in 29 appearances.

Speaking after the announcement of his deal, the youngster spoke about his happiness at signing for the Bundesliga side.

“I signed here for four years plus one year optional, because I think Borussia is the right club for me to keep growing,” he told the club’s official site.

“It is too soon for me to play for Chelsea. Borussia is a club that suits me perfectly. Mönchengladbach is not far from Belgium and the club has great fans that always support us. It is a good team, a good coach and a good place for me to develop.”
