Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is ready to sign a new contract and follow Marco Reus in doing so, according to Bild.

The midfielder has been a distant figure in European football in recent seasons after struggling for fitness following a back problem which ruled him out for 14 months.

However, his return to action has further prompted a number of European clubs to show interest.

The German international is now reported to be closing in on a contract extension, with his current deal due to expire in 2016.

Although, following the 3-2 win over Stuttgart at the weekend, he remained coy on the situation.

“I don’t what to say anything about it,” the paper reported him as saying, adding that “things are looking good”.
