Manchester City have sent a warning to Champions League opposition Barcelona after hammering Newcastle United 5-0 on Saturday evening.
The Premier League champions were in superb form as they took advantage of a late kick-off to hammer Newcastle at the Etihad stadium.
Vurnon Anita’s slip in the first minute saw Sergio Aguero score early from the penalty spot after Edin Dzeko was hauled down inside the box.
Samir Nasri and Dzeko would then make it 3-0 to Manuel Pellegrini’s side, before a superb brave from David Silva gave the home side all three points.
City face Barcelona on Tuesday night in the Champions League and they will now be classed as slight favourites after the Catalans lost 1-0 at Camp Nou to Malaga earlier in the day.
