Gerrard keen to manage Liverpool in the future

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has spoken of his desire to manage the club in the future.

The 34-year-old midfielder will leave the club this summer when his contract expires to make a lucrative move to MLS side LA Galaxy.

Gerrard, who is currently out injured with a hamstring injury has been at the Merseyside club since the age of eight and he has told ITV that he dreams of managing the club one day.

“It has always been a dream of mine [managing Liverpool],” he told ITV Sport. “First and foremost you have to be good enough.

“It is not just about saying you want to be it, you have to go out and prove yourself. It is a long way away, I am just focused on playing for now.”

Gerrard has helped the Merseysiders to two FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League title and one UEFA Cup during his career.
