Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has spoken about his return to action from his current hamstring injury, saying he will miss the Europa League second leg against Besiktas.
The England midfielder is set to leave the club at the end of the season to join MLS side LA Galaxy and it was first thought that he would miss a large part of his final months with the Anfield club through injury after being hauled off against Tottenham Hotspur with a hamstring problem.
However, speaking before kick-off of the Liverpool’s first leg against the Turkish side, Gerrard told ITV that he would be back in two weeks.
“I think I’m a couple of weeks away from returning to playing but it’s settled down well,” he said.
“I don’t really want to put a target game on the injury [but] I think next week will come too soon.”
