Dzeko happy to stay at City, despite Bony arrival

Edin Dzeko has no intention of leaving Manchester City, despite the January signing of Wilfried Bony.

The Premier League champions completed a £27m move for the Ivorian striker from Swansea City in the latter stages of the January transfer window, which led to numerous reports that Bosnian strike Dzeko would be moved on.

A number of Bundesliga sides have maintained their interest with former club Wolfsburg said to be keen.

However, Dzeko has spoken of his desire to remain at the Etihad stadium.

“Every summer and winter I’m constantly linked with leaving City and I have been here for years now,” he told Patria. “I will not comment on speculation, because if I did I would have to spend all day doing it.

“I’ve said before and I will it say again, I am only focused on Manchester City and the national team. I am not interested in other speculation, it’s not worth bothering with.

“City is a team who wants to win as many trophies as possible so it is quite normal to have a big squad with new signings.

“I really like Bony because I know him from the Premier League, but we all have a place in the team. We will all get a chance to prove ourselves in the remaining games of the season.”
