Van Gaal ‘s phone calls ignored by Dortmund star

German daily Bild have reported that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal’s phone calls to Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus were ignored.

The reports also indicate that the German international, who was subject to interest from a number of top European clubs in January, refused to speak with anyone whilst he ironed out the details on a new and improved deal with Dortmund.

Reus penned a four year deal with the Bundesliga giants, which included the removal of a £20m release fee.

United officials may have been knocked back in their interest of the former Borussia Monchengladbach star, but a deal in principle has been agreed for defender Mats Hummels.

Meanwhile, it is also understood that Reus also turned down the chance to fly to Paris and discuss terms with Paris Saint Germain, despite the Ligue 1 side booking flights and hotel accommodation.
