Man United join duo in race for £33m AFCON star

Manchester United have joined Atletico Madrid and Manchester City in the race to sign Porto attacker Brahimi.

The 25-year-old has been in superb form this season, coming off the back of what was deemed to be a breakthrough year with Spanish side Granada.

Named the 2014 BBC African Footballer of the Year, Brahimi’s rise both at club level and for Algeria has seen a number of top European clubs show interest with Man City leading the list of clubs.

Since joining Porto from Granada last year, Brahimi has gone on to have a big impact at Estadio do Dragao with a hat-trick against BATE Borisov in the Champions League being his stand out performance.

Brahimi has also gained interest from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, whilst it is now understood that Man United will join with interest, seemingly confident that they can activate the Algerian’s buy-out clause of £33m.
