Spurs keen to battle Dortmund for Mustafi

Tottenham Hotspur are keen to test Borussia Dortmund’s interest in defender Shkodran Mustafi.

The 22-year-old has impressed this season for Spanish side Valencia and has gained plaudits from a number of top European clubs, including the German national team, who have given him six caps since the beginning of 2014.

Bundesliga side Dortmund, who are set to lose Mats Hummels in the summer, are keen to pursue a move for the German central defender.

However, it is now being reported that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants Mustafi to replace Younes Kaboul, who is set to the leave the club in the summer.

Mustafi spent three years with Premier League rivals Everton, but left for Sampdoria in 2012 after failing to break into the first team under David Moyes.
