Serie A outfit in for Argentina legend

Cambiasso

Serie A outfit Sampdoria are reportedly lining up a double swoop for midfielders Esteban Cambiasso and David Pizarro.

Argentina stalwart Cambiasso is available on a free transfer after running down his contract at Inter Milan, and would provide the pedigree for which Sampdoria are searching.

Former Manchester City loanee Pizarro would also not command a transfer fee as his current deal at Fiorentina has expired.

At 33 and 34-years-old respectively, the pair can offer their suitors a wealth of experience if terms can be agreed with their representatives.

According to Italian source La Gazzetta dello Sport the acquisition of Pizarro is thought to be close to completion, but Cambiasso could prove harder to convince as he considers his options ahead of what could be his final move in football.

The report claims the former Real Madrid man is tempted by the prospect of plying his trade abroad, and his impressive CV means he is unlikely to be short of offers overseas.

Pizarro enjoyed a successful loan spell at City during their 2011-12 title-winning campaign.

His crisp passing and vision earned rave reviews in the second half of that season, with then-boss Roberto Mancini delighted with the contribution he made to the Blues picking up their first ever top-flight title in the Premier League era.
