Give us Pedro or Koke for Juan Mata, demand Man United

Football Express News understands that Manchester United have informed Barcelona and Atletico Madrid of their wishes, should they sell Juan Mata.

The Spanish midfielder joined United in January 2014 but has failed to live up to the expectations on his shoulders which came following consistent performances for Valencia, Chelsea and the Spanish national side over recent years.

Reports linking Mata with an exit were heavy in the summer of 2014 with the likes of Paris Saint Germain, Inter Milan and former club Valencia all keen.

Barcelona were also keen on signing the Spanish international and it is understood that a lucrative bid was made by the Catalan side.

But, the midfielder rejected the chance to join the club and stay at United, where he was keen to impress new boss Louis van Gaal.

He has since struggled to maintain form, but interest from the Catalans has not vanished with reports in Catalan press now claiming they will come back with a fresh bid in January 2016, when their transfer ban ends.

However, they are now being joined by La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid, who are keen to beat Barca and make a summer bid.

And, we have understood that United have informed both La Liga clubs that should they sell the Spanish international; then they would ask for either Pedro Rodriguez or Koke as part of such a deal.

Pedro has struggled for playing time at Camp Nou this season and has been linked with a summer exit, whilst Koke has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs after impressing this season.
