Chelsea maintain interest in £21m West Ham striker

Chelsea are preparing a £21m bid for West Ham United striker Enner Valencia, according to The Daily Mail.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly mulling over a late deadline day bid for the Ecuadorian striker after sealing a deal for Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina.

Mourinho initially dismissed talk that he was looking to add more players to his squad, but the £26.8m move for Cuadrado and links to other players like Valencia have seen his words turn around.

Valencia arrived in England last summer when he joined West Ham and he has impressed, playing a large part in Sam Allardyce’s side, who have kept ground with the Champions League chasing side’s in the Premier League.

The striker has scored just three Premier League goals but Mourinho is said to be keen on his international record, which stands at 11 goals in 17 games.

Meanwhile, reports link West Ham with a big-money move for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
