Serie A star ‘ready’ for Barca move

Cuadrado

Fiorentina midfielder Juan Cuadrado has been told by his national coach to test himself at the highest level, amid strong interest from La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

Colombia boss Jose Pekerman believes the 26-year-old is ready for the step up after seeing him flourish at club and international level.

Italian source La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Cuadrado, who is co-owned by the Viola and Udinese, is the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Catalan giants Barca and Serie A champions Juventus.

While the Nou Camp club is willing to pay £20million, his employers are said to be holding out for around £30m.

Regardless of his next destination, Pekerman told reporters in Brazil that his player can be a success.

He said: “He is a player who is constantly growing, every time we meet he has improved.

“He excels at his club and with the national team so I have no doubt that Cuadrado is ready for a big club.

“He has already done so much. He can play in a great team.”

Cuadrado scored 13 goals in 38 appearances for Fiorentina last term while also receiving 12 yellow cards and one red.

He has requested an improved contract to stay at Fiorentina but so far an extension has not been thrashed out.
