Madrid and Barca battle it out for Brazilian full-back

Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to do battle off the field for Porto right-back Danilo.

Danilo, who has decided not to renew with the Portuguese club, as his contract ends in 2016 and is estimated to be worth £20m, has emerged as a top transfer target for the La Liga duo.

Spanish daily Marca have linked Carlo Ancelotti’s side with the impressive full-back, whilst Barcelona are keen to replace Dani Alves in the summer.

Real Madrid have made it clear that they want to improve their defence by incorporating both the Porto full-back and Valencia youngster Jose Luis Gayá.

The reigning European champions have the edge on Barca as the Catalan side are unable to sign new players until 2016, due to their transfer ban from FIFA.

Luis Enrique’s side are keen to make a move though, and have mentioned the prospect of Cristian Tello, on loan at Porto, being used as part of the deal.
