Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was unable to speak following his side’s 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield due to having to dash to catch a plane, causing reports of a scouting mission.

Rodgers saw his side produce a solid performance and beat Spurs 3-2 with the winning goal coming from Mario Balotelli but had to fly out of Merseyside straight after full-time on what many media outlets are reporting as a scouting mission.

Speaking in his behalf to BT Sport, assistant manager Colin Pascoe confirmed his absence before discussing the vistory.

“Brendan had to shoot off to catch a plane”, he revealed.

“It was important for us tonight to win the game, Tottenham have been on a great run.

“It was great movement from Mario in the six-yard box. I hope it can be a springboard, he is training hard.

“The last couple of weeks he’s been ill and had gashes on his feet so couldn’t get his boots on.”
