Inter coach Roberto Mancini believes Mauro Icardi will become a star in world football if he continues with the right attitude.

The Argentine striker has been in superb form this season, scoring 10 goals in 19 Serie A games and has gained interest from a number of top European clubs, including Chelsea.

Icardi has been criticised, however, for a number of off-field incidents this season, but his boss, Roberto Mancini, believes with an attitude change he could become one of the stars in football.

“Mauro is a highly talented youngster and has huge margin for improvement. It’s entirely up to him [whether he becomes a star],” Mancini told Italia 1.

“If he wants to become a first-class centre forward, he has to make sure he keeps knuckling down.

“Controversy off the pitch? The main thing is that he stars on the pitch.”

Former Manchester City boss Mancini is fully determined to change Inter’s luck around after a number of dreadful seasons and he has talked up their chances of challenging for top honours.

“Inter are Inter and they must always be challenging for the top honours. We’ll do everything we can to get into the Champions League this year.”

Inter currently sit ninth in the table with 26 points from 19 games.
