Luis Enrique has discussed Barcelona’s transfer ban and has confirmed he will look to the club’s famed youth academy.

The La Liga club had their transfer ban by FIFA confirmed this week by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), meaning, they will not be allowed to sign players until the January transfer window of 2016.

Head coach Luis Enrique admits the situation does cause problems, but the former midfielder is ready to utilise several youth players in the coming months.

“It came as something of a surprise, we would rather a different decision but we’ll deal with what we’ve got,” he told reporters.

“We’ve got a good enough squad right now to cope and I have a lot of respect with the players in reserve.

“Because we can’t sign players we’ll give more chances to those players and we’ll keep an eye on how they’re progressing.”

One pending decision to be made by Enrique is the future of Brazilian full-back Dani Alves, who is now free to discuss terms a potential club as his contract will expire in June.

“With Alves it’s a sporting situation I’m not going to make public things I speak about with the directors of sport, they’re private matters.

“He’s an important player in this squad. Whenever these situations arrive I speak to the implicated parties first.

“There’s no rush in this respect and the fact we can’t sign new players doesn’t mean we have to look through a magnifying glass at every departure.”
