Manchester United announced on Monday that co-owner Edward Glazer will sell three million shares, which could see him earn £31.9m.

In a statement released during the second half of United’s win over Southampton on Monday evening, the Premier League club revealed that the son of former owner Malcolm, who died in May, is keen to sell a number of shares.

Glazer’s son, Edward, owns 3.5m shares in the English club, whilst selling 3m of those is likely to see him earn around £40m.

“Manchester United will not receive any proceeds from the sale of any Class A Ordinary Shares by [Glazer],” the statement read.

“The offering is expected to close on December 12, 2014, subject to customary closing conditions.”
