Bayern Munich youngster Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has given Arsenal food for thought after revealing he wants to leave the club.
The 19-year-old joined Pep Guardiola’s side in 2012 and has made 19 appearances for the German champions since.
The Danish international is keen to push his career forward, but has revealed that he may need to leave the club in order to do so, after failing to cement a regular place in Guardiola’s squad.
“I think the time has come for me to go,” Hojbjerg told Kicker. “I have learnt everything here, Bayern are the best school around, but I feel ready now to take the leap.
“I want to really get started. The quality of this Bayern team is so high, maybe it’s not the right time for me here.
“I want to learn, to get better – I need to play matches to do that.”
The teenager’s agent, Soren Lerby claims the pair will make a decision over the next few weeks and that interested clubs could be spoken to in January.
Arsenal have been heavily linked as have a number of German sides such asĀ Augsburg, Hannover and Borussia Monchengladbach.
“At the end of November we will sit down together and we will see,” he said. “It is clear that Pierre need games regularly.”
