Radamel Falcao has to prove his fitness to Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal or he will face a return to Monaco.

Colombian striker Falcao has struggled with injuries since he moved from Atletico Madrid to Monaco last summer and has since been forced to feature less than expected for new club Man Untied.

The former Porto man is expected to make his loan move to Old Trafford a permanent one next summer with negotiations reaching a settled stage between United and Monaco officials.

However, it is now understood that United have held fire on a permanent deal due to concerns over the goalscorer’s fitness.

The club will now decide over the next two weeks if Falcao is deemed suitable and fit enough to sign in a deal worth £43m.
