Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that Arsenal must ‘live in a realistic’ world after their indifferent form in recent weeks.
The Gunners have not started the season in title contending form and worries amongst fans and media men close to the club continue to grow after a 2-1 defeat to Swansea City on Sunday.
The result leaves Arsenal 12 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea, though Wenger has insisted that he has more important worries than being concerned by the gap.
He told Sky Sports: “At the moment we have different worries than that. We just lost a game that we feel we shouldn’t have lost. We have to live in a realistic world, in football you have to win the games you can win and today was one. If you want to challenge for the Premier League, you have to be a bit more realistic than we were today.
The French boss then answered questions regarding his side’s defeat to Swansea: “We had the lead, it’s difficult to explain how we lost the lead because we were in control.
“You could see that they didn’t give up and I felt we lost some decisive challenges in the middle of the park in the last 20 minutes and we paid for that. That’s where we lost the battle.
“We were not in too much trouble and we had the best chances. It’s a place where it’s always tight, it was a very tactical game and I felt when we were 1-0 up we lacked some spark and killer instinct to win it. They didn’t give up and we couldn’t get the second goal.”
