Jose Mourinho has stood by his recent comments about the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge.
The Portuguese coach was left unhappy after saying it felt like his side were playing in an ’empty stadium’ against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday in the 2-1 win.
And the former Real Madrid boss, has backed his criticism ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Maribor.
“We are the team to get less support in home matches. When compared to my previous time I think it’s getting worse,” the Portuguese said.
“I don’t question the passion and the love – I’m nobody to question that and I know clearly that is not true.
“I will always love them and respect them, but I don’t know (why there is a lack of atmosphere).”
Chelsea supporters’ trust chairman Tim Rolls has said that despite Mourinho’s comments, the club’s fans will always back the coach.
“He is an extremely popular manager, I don’t see any sort of lingering resentment on this at all, he said his point,” he told Perform .
“He’s winning games and we’re top of the league. If he carries on like this there’ll be no negativity.
“I think he’s given the club some serious issues to talk about because the publicity has all been about ticket prices and stewarding and creating an atmosphere.
“But I really don’t think there’s going to be any resentment towards him at all.”
