Manchester United and Liverpool have both held talks with Daley Sinkgraven over a potential January move.
The two English clubs have joined a number of top European clubs with their interest in the Dutch youngster, prompting a forthcoming January transfer battle.
Sinkgraven has been in superb form this season and has attracted scouts from the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Dutch side Heerenveen understand that they will not be able to keep the 19-year-old on a long-term basis, but are determined to keep hold of him past January, which now seems unlikely.
United boss Louis van Gaal and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers have both sent scouts to the Abe Lenstra Stadion this season already and believe that a bid in the region of £5m could see him move to England.
