Frank Lampard scored against his former club Chelsea to save a point a 1-1 for Manchester City at the Etihad stadium.
The first chance of the game fell to the home side as Yaya Toure headed towards goal but he was denied by the impressive Thibaut Courtois and from that moment on the first half seemed to bypass most in attendance.
Cesc Fabregas had a big penalty appeal turned down after his cross looked to have hit Eliaquim Mangala’s hand but referee Mike Dean waved away the protests.
Man City had a penalty appeal turned down also as Branislav Ivanovic seemed to have fouled Toure, but once again Dean was unconvinced.
One decision that Dean did take was to send off Argentine defender Pablo Zabaleta after he fouled Diego Costa, and it took Chelsea just four minutes to take the lead following that point.
Andre Schurrle rounded off a superb team move to put Jose Mourinho’s side ahead.
But, from the moment Frank Lampard entered the field, for Man City, not his former club Chelsea – the game changed and it was to be the former Blues midfielder who levelled the tie and shared the points.
