Football Express News understands that Olivier Giroud is close to agreeing a new contract with Arsenal.
The French striker is currently injured, having broken his foot two weeks ago but a new deal has since been prepared which will tie him to the club until 2018.
The 27-year-old’s future at the club was questioned by fans over the summer, with some calling for him to be replaced, but boss Arsene Wenger is keen to have Giroud as a figure head of the Arsenal attack with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck playing alongside him.
Talks have begun between Giroud and the North London club with negotiations having already thrashed out an increase to his current £60k per week deal.
His new deal will follow the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Laurent Koscielny and Tomas Rosicky, who have also agreed new deals in recent weeks.
