Honorary Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer has discussed the future of Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus and said that he could join Manchester United in 2015.
Reus has been strongly linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer after impressing in a big scale last season in the Bundesliga and in European competition.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man United have all been linked but it has been the latter who have maintained their interest in recent weeks.
Whilst it now seems likely the German international will remain at the club this season, his refusal to sign a new and extended contract will see him leave next summer for a discounted price, leading to more interest from the aforementioned clubs.
And, Bayern chief Beckenbauer believes that Man United are favourites to complete the deal, whilst Madrid are also close.
“If you can get a player of his class, you need to try it. If he doesn’t go to Bayern in 2015, he will probably go to another big club like Real Madrid or Manchester United.
“Dortmund will probably not be able to hold on to him. I can understand why Dortmund don’t like discussion about Reus.”
