Arsenal are ready to make a bid for Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho, according to O Jogo.
Arsene Wenger has looked to improve his options this summer and has already completed the signings of Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers.
Keen to push on from their FA Cup success last season, Wenger has been linked with a number of other targets and according to reports in Portugual – is ready to make a move for impressive defensive minded player William Carvalho.
The 22-year-old has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs this summer, with Manchester United and Barcelona having looked closely.
O Jogo report that Arsenal are ready to submit a bid of £24m, despite Carvalho having a release clause of £37m in his current contract.
The bid is likely to be accepted by the Portuguese club, who are keen to reap the rewards of a large transfer fee – rather than wait until next summer.
