RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid after Paris St-Germain pulled out of the running for his signature.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international had attracted significant interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs heading into the summer window.
Liverpool were among the first to make a serious move, having an initial bid of £69m rejected back in June before moving on to alternative targets.
PSG also pursued Diomande aggressively but are said to have had a final offer of £102.5m rejected on Sunday before opting against entering a bidding war with Real Madrid.
With PSG stepping aside, Madrid moved quickly to secure personal terms with the teenage forward on a deal modelled on Jude Bellingham’s contract structure.
The agreement is said to be incentivised on performances, meaning the contract will effectively improve year-on-year in line with Diomande’s contributions on the pitch.
Real Madrid are expected to pay more than £100m for Diomande, who only joined Leipzig from Spanish club Leganes last summer on a five-year deal.
Sources close to Real Madrid say key negotiators Jose Angel and Juni Calafat have been scouting Diomande for approximately five years, with their interest predating his recent World Cup performances entirely.
Leipzig have made every effort to retain the forward in Germany but regard the level of interest as extraordinary, making it difficult to turn away potential record sale fees from elite European clubs.
Diomande lit up the Bundesliga throughout the 2025-26 campaign, winning the division’s young player of the season award after scoring 12 goals and registering eight assists.
His rise through football has been a remarkable journey, having moved from his native Ivory Coast to an academy in the United States in 2025 before linking up with Leganes in Spain.
From there, Leipzig identified him as a standout talent and brought him to Germany, where he quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young players in European football.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of Diomande reflects the club’s continued commitment to identifying and signing elite young talent on long-term structures that reward growth and performance.
