England’s World Cup last-32 tie against DR Congo will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer as the knockout stage gets fully underway.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will face the knockout stage debutants on Wednesday in Atlanta, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 BST.

DR Congo are appearing in their first World Cup in 52 years and arrive in impressive form heading into the tie.

They drew with Portugal in the group stage before coming from behind to beat Uzbekistan 3-1, setting up what promises to be an intriguing encounter.

All 16 games in the first knockout round will be covered across BBC Sport, with the broadcaster and ITV sharing eight last-32 matches each.

The BBC will also show European champions Spain’s tie against Austria on Thursday at 20:00, as they look to win a World Cup knockout match for the first time since lifting the trophy in 2010.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal’s quest to win a first World Cup continues when they face Luka Modric’s Croatia on Friday at midnight.

With both Ballon d’Or winners turning 41 this year, the match is likely to represent a final World Cup appearance for at least one of them.

BBC One will also broadcast four-time World Cup winners Germany’s tie against Paraguay on Monday at 21:30, and Mohamed Salah’s Egypt face Australia on Friday at 19:00.

Erling Haaland’s Norway take on Ivory Coast on Tuesday at 18:00, with tournament co-hosts United States facing Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday at 01:00 also live on BBC One.

Switzerland’s clash with Algeria on Friday at 04:00 rounds out the BBC’s early broadcast schedule for the knockout rounds.

Live radio commentary from every single match will be available on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds throughout the tournament.

Live text coverage and expert analysis will also be provided on the BBC Sport website and app for fans following along at home.

For supporters unable to stay up for late kick-offs, spoiler-free highlights are available each morning on iPlayer, the BBC Sport app and the BBC Football YouTube channel.

BBC Sport’s new interactive 3D experience is available for all live BBC TV matches on the BBC Sport website and app, and in replay mode for ITV games.
