Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Gabriel, and David Raya have been shortlisted for the PFA men’s player of the year award for the 2025-26 season.

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City pair Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki complete a six-man shortlist for the prestigious annual prize.

Fernandes enters the vote as a strong favourite after winning the Football Writers’ Association men’s footballer of the year award earlier this month.

The FWA award has historically served as a reliable indicator of who will go on to claim the PFA equivalent.

The Portuguese midfielder produced a record-breaking 21 Premier League assists this season, helping Manchester United secure a third-place finish.

Rice, Gabriel, and Raya were all central figures for Arsenal, who claimed their first Premier League title in 22 years.

Norwegian striker Haaland claimed the golden boot after finding the net 27 times throughout the Premier League campaign.

Cherki, meanwhile, impressed throughout what was a highly successful debut season in English football after joining City.

The winners will be presented with their awards on Tuesday, 25 August at the 53rd annual PFA Awards Ceremony in Manchester.

Former Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah won the men’s award last year, having scored 29 goals to help the Reds lift the Premier League trophy.

Cherki is also among the nominees for the PFA young player of the year award, alongside City team-mate and England international Nico O’Reilly.

O’Reilly was recognised last week after being named the Premier League’s young player of the season by the division’s governing body.

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, another England international, has also been nominated after playing a key role in Michael Carrick’s side.

Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi earned his place on the shortlist by scoring 13 goals in 33 appearances during his debut Premier League campaign.

Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha, both England under-19 internationals, round out the young player of the year nominations.
