Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal wants to bring former youth player Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford, according to The Guardian.

Pogba has become one of the most consistent and talented midfielders in European football since he left England for Italian side Juventus, helping the Turin club to three consecutive Serie A titles.

The French international has strongly cemented his place for both club and country and returned following an iniury problem to help Juve beat Real Madrid on Wednesday evening to reach the Champions League final.

Pogba has attracted a number of top European clubs of late, with his future in Italy up for discussion.

Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea have been linked, whilst Barcelona are said to have agreed a deal in principle with the midfielder, according to Spanish and Catalan press.

That has not stopped Dutch coach Van Gaal from showing interest though and it is understood that United boss wants to spend the cash and bring him back to Old Trafford.

Pogba left the club on a free transfer three seasons back and would cost around £70m with a contract worth £150,000-per-week.
