Chelsea’s hopes of landing Atletico Madrid pair Koke and Antoine Griezmann have been dealt a major blow, according to Daily Star.

Having signed Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Thibaut Courtois from Atletico Madrid last summer, Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been keen to pursue a summer move for duo Koke and Griezmann.

Reports in England and Spain claim that the Spanish champions had contemplated the idea of selling the impressive duo, despite having signed Frenchman Griezmann from Real Sociedad last summer.

However, it is now understood that Atletico boss Diego Simeone has told club officials that both must be kept at the club and given new deals, which would increase their buy-out clause to £100m each.

That dashes any hopes Mourinho had of signing the pair and it is understood that he will now look elsewhere.

Atleti are sitting third in La Liga and face Barcelona this weekend, with their opponents set to be crowned champions if they win at the Vicente Calderon.
