Southampton are reportedly set to join the race to sign Arsenal target N’Golo Kante with a fee of £5m put forward, according to The Mirror.
Southampton have been monitoring the 24-year-old and consider him to be a possible replacement for outgoing midfielder Victor Wanyama.
Arsenal have also been tracking the midfielder and will have to act fast if they are to secure his services over other Premier League rivals.
Southampton are currently sixth in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 53 points, one point behind Liverpool in fifth.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also reported to be interested in Wanyama but view Kante as the cheaper option.
