Former Liverpool ace Jamie Carragher has apologised for sharing The Sun’s video of Wayne Rooney getting knocked out by Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley.

Liverpool fans are famously known for shunning the national newspaper after its claims about how the supporters behaved in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, where 96 fans of the Merseyside club died.

The newspaper published footage of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney appearing to get knocked out by Bardsley as the two joked around in the England captain’s house.

Carragher shared The Sun‘s video on Twitter and offered Rooney some boxing tips, but later said sorry, tweeting: “Apologies on the Rooney clip for obvious reasons. Deleted now.”
