Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal remains confident that his side can finish runners-up in the Premier League this season.
The Red Devils have found consistency hard to find this season and have lost out on their last realistic chance of silverware this week after the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday in the FA Cup.
Currently sitting fourth in the Premier League, United face Tottenham Hotspur this weekend as the battle for the Champions League places continues.
The 63-year-old told reporters ahead of the match against Mauricio Pochettino’s side that he was confident of finishing second place.
“The coming matches are very decisive. We are so close to a lot of clubs. We can be second or third. It is not a big difference, I believe.
“Manchester United have to be one of the teams who have to play in the Champions League.”
