Manchester United keeper David de Gea has dismissed reports that he and boss Louis van Gaal are not speaking.
Reports earlier this week surfaced that the Spanish international and Van Gaal were not on speaking terms as contract negotiations over the keeper’s future continues.
De Gea’s future is expected to come to an end in the coming weeks with contract negotiations having gone to an advanced stage and the former Atletico Madrid man has said that he and the Dutchman have no problems.
“Everything that has been written in the press about us not getting on is a lie,” the Spaniard told the club’s official website. “We both want the best for the club and the team, and the stories are complete lies.”
De Gea has been in superb form this season and he has admitted that he is happy with his performances.
“I think this is the best period of my career,” he added. “I am playing the best football that I’ve ever played.
“I’m really enjoying it at the moment and I’m just trying to improve with every training session and every game that goes by, giving 100 per cent and concentrating to the maximum,” he added. “That’s the way I want to continue.”
