Monaco crushed Arsenal 3-1 at Emirates stadium in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 game on Wednesday evening.
Goals from Geoffrey Kondogbia, Dimitar Berbatov and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco have put the Ligue 1 side in command heading into the second leg, despite Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring late on.
Former Sevilla midfielder Kondogbia gave the visitors the lead just after the hour mark when he curled a long range effort which was deflected off Per Mertesacker to leave David Ospina no chance of making the save.
And, they doubled their lead 10 minutes after half-time when Dimitar Berbatov rifled home on his return to England.
The French side did succumb to Arsenal pressure in the 90th minute when Oxlade-Chamberlain curled in an effort from the outside of the box.
But, just as Arsenal thought they were back in the tie, Monaco struck again as Ferreira Carrasco scored late in stoppage time.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen recorded a 1-0 win over holders Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of their Champions League tie this evening as Hakan Calhanoglu scored.
